Not only is chess racist but it's also deeply sexist. The queen has to move around and do everything while the king stays home safe and sound... Or is that empowering because it promotes strong and independent women? Now I'm confused.
It's none and both until a self-certified feminist decides which one it is for whichever specific discussion or argument is being made at that precise moment. Some experts call it "Schrödinger's sexism". There's plenty of cases and it's also valid for racism and any other -ism you can think of.
