Can people actually do that? Can someone actually file to keep damning evidence out of court?

To me, that would be like trying to keep your fraudulent tax returns from the IRS. Yes, I know I cheated, but it’s my right to keep them private so nobody knows. Or a murderer filing to keep the murder weapon out of court. Ridiculous
