They cannot comprehend that they were lied to and they believed the lie(s). No one wants to admit they were a fool to believe lies. So, they cling to their beliefs and protect them and themselves from being found to be STUPID and INCAPABLE of CRITICAL THINKING. I recently had a run in at a private home with another guest who told me to stop talking about vaccines, when I pointed out that due to them, cancer rates of weird and strange cancers, among others, are up by 100's of percentage points.
