She seems to think she’s being consistent with her constitutional principles, but what does Florida ending Disney’s special tax status have to do with the constitution?
Her claim is that Florida is pushing the stripping of the tax status because they don't like what Disney has to say about their K-3 bill, which isn't completely wrong.
What she's neglecting to mention is that this is just the final straw in a series of really poor decisions by Disney.
She is also neglecting to mention that Disney is the only theme park that had that special tax status. Universal doesn't, Sea World doesn't, Busch Gardens Tampa doesn't, the FloraBama doesn't (don't look at me like that, the Florabama totally counts as an amusement park). I feel like in the interests of fairness, the special tax status should have either been extended to all of the parks or not even an option for the parks.
I don’t know much about the special tax status but from what I understand, it was a deal long ago between Disney and the State government. Disney pissed them off so they ended the deal. I don’t see how it’s a constitutional issue.
