but we have to wait patiently for the actual Checkmate

This is why I'm not a fan of spectator chess. The players would just clear the board as soon as it was obvious. Instead we have to wait forever for the spectators to realize the game was over 17 moves ago.

Then again, maybe I'm glad they aren't "clearing the board" just yet.
