For those who are buying into the Musk fiasco, thinking he's a good guy, I only have this to say: CAVEAT EMPTOR!

I've known many brilliant people in my lifetime, and I've seen that it's quite possible to hold different, sometimes even conflicting, ideas. While I don't agree with a guaranteed basic income, I do agree with Musk on his free speech stance.
If you're looking for ideological purity, where a person aligns with EVERY SINGLE OPINION that you hold....well, that's gonna be very hard to find. The Progressives pretend to have ideological purity, as we see in their virtue signalling Twats and TikTok's, but for thinking people, we can agree to disagree on things.
Side note: I saw a T-shirt at the gym yesterday, worn by a retired physicist, that said "I would rather have questions that I can't answer, than answers I can't question." Just thought that would be appropriate here.
Ideological purity? No, I'm looking for consistent belief in freedom. Guaranteed basic income is bandage. Intelligent people don't want that shit v
I think that it's entirely possible that Elon foresees the massive unemployment that will be caused by his development of AI. If he understands that his work will put millions of people out of work, maybe he feels some responsibility for that.
I think you're absolutely right about "hero worship" and the ephemeral nature of the object of that devotion. I try not to get caught up in that too, knowing that all people are fallible. If there is one central, basic rule about humans, it's that we are all fallible in one way or another. We all have blind spots an failings, and frankly I would be a bit put off if I came across someone who appeared perfect in every aspect of their lives.
Example: The Left can preen and virtue signal and claim ideological purity all they want, but I will never buy that.
The same with anyone on our side, what I call "the right side of history".... but smart people (and I assume most of us here on GAW are pretty smart people) will see and accept, even embrace, others here who have foibles and faults and differences. It's what makes us uniquely human. Those folks on the Left marching in lockstep to who knows where, now that's a scary sight to behold.
Great point. Well said.
