Only when certain basic knowledge questions are asked or challenged.
If on this site, there are certain elementary topics people should just know; why we're a Constitutional Republic vs a Democracy is just one of those things.
The problems arise when those who do not know begin prattling on like they do know and it just comes off as ignorant. It gets tiresome when you have to explain a topic, constantly, when the knowledge is at the fingertips of everyone.🤷♂️
Many people here are not going to have the same education as you are. Many people on this site aren't even American. To assume they "should" know the things you do is a little narrow minded.
Personally, I never have any qualms sharing the information I've found, no matter how many times people ask me. I find it almost funny how many people get downright butthurt when they get asked for more info.
Strawman argument. If you're going to speak on a topic and then double down when you're wrong, it doesn't make a difference where you're from.
Example: I knew nothing about the struggles between Sri Lankans and India, but someone had a post who was FROM Sri Lanka and offered some insight. I didn't argue a counterpoint or double down on something I had only passing knowledge; I thanked them for an interesting insight, and that's the difference.
In short, don't be a dumbass and you won't get treated like one.
My point is that people often get lashed out against before they get the opportunity to respond to the first bit of insight, and are quick to lash out at the first question
Mhm, completely understand the point IF it's a question. In this instance, ignorance was authoritatively displayed, corrected, suggestion to self educate, and response was "you hurt muh feels".
Now we're here discussing why White-Knighting someone's feels also isn't a good thing to do.
