This was so good I had to share it right away:
"Netflix began layoffs on Thursday, just days after its stock plummeted."
"The belt tightening appears to have started at Netflix: A number of journalists working for the company’s entertainment site Tudum have been laid off, according to tweets by those affected."
Big grin on MY face. What about you?
Netflix is failing because normies binge watching isn't a sustainable business model. They run out of "bingeable" normie content and don't move on to anime or niche genres. Likewise, people who watch anime or niche content will rarely move on to normie content. There's not enough anime or scifi or documentaries or sports content on Netflix to keep these users engagd.
Movies are an interesting thing because whenever a catalog film gets added it typically takes over the monthly rankings immediately. Even movies with low metacritic scores can outpace their originals. I theorize it's because movies are much more mass appeal among demos. HBO MAX, PRIME VIDEO, AND DISNEY have really cut their supply of movies so that revenue stream is shrinking
I won't get into the Cuties thing but as much controversy as it caused the movie in the end was a non factor for Netflx and underperformed. It's unintentionally one of the most scathing condemnations of Islam and Muslims and probably why Netflix caved to the conservative right and moved on to push other things.
