It is entirely possible that when Adam named the animals, he was also defining their nature. That is something some people would scoff at, but the Bible supports the idea that names and nature are related. It wasn't something I was all that conscious of when we named our kids, but we paid a great deal of attention to what the names meant, and how they worked together when we selected them.
