This is how Trump did it with Hillary in I think the second debate too. She wanted to trap him into talking about first trimester or rape/incest/life of mother and instead of taking that bait, he forced her to defend the extreme of her position, and talked about ripping babies out of wombs at eight and nine months. Normies want to be seen as good, non-political people without strong opinions, so forcing them to own the Democrat extremism is a good way to get them to inch away.
