Hey, as a retired teacher of 42ys. I can tell you, textbook companies are BIG PROFITIABLE business! They want and NEED states and local school systems to adopt their books. Usually a next textbook is adopted every 6 years, i.e. Math then Science, SS, Lang. Arts, etc. It would appear that Math is up for adoption this year. Thankfully most schools finally dumped that horrible Common Core math (ugh)!

I always found it really frustrating that the cost of school textbooks were like theatre concessions.
Textbooks or materials should be free in schools, imo.
