In what is probably THE MOST lopsided response ever, in the course of the war America dropped 160,000 tons of conventional explosives and two atomic bombs on Japan.

At least one of the balloons loaded with incendiaries set a fire in Texas, too. The Japanese used the Jet Stream to fly them all the way from Japan, some of them actually got here and worked, setting fires.
