I don't get it, what is the purpose of the nasal swab for surgery? Are they saying that they need to determine of you have covid before they will operate?

Yes. I'm a Vet. My surgeries were through the VA. They made a policy in that year that you had to have a negative COVID test so many days before any surgery.
