No idea what's causing it but my wife even came and found me and seemed concerned so I know I'm not crazy.

We had the same thing here in Houston in February . Was reported on all of the local news channels. It was a joint DOD and HPD training exercise, a lot of noise (so they said). A lot of machine gun fire and black hawks flying low. I found it to be strange, lasted for 3 weeks in different areas of the city. Citizens were not allowed in the areas they were training in.
