All countries need intelligence services however what they do needs to be controlled and not actions against their own people or to cover up the agency failings.

Lockerbie PAN AM flight that got blown up has strange CIA connections.

Both the US ambassador to Lebanon, John McCarthy, and the South African Foreign Minister Pik Botha had their travel plans altered at the last minute in order to avoid PA103 for an earlier flight despite the S African having a pre-arranged meeting in London that he then missed ​with the ex Swedish Prime Minister / UN Commissioner for Namibia, Bernt Carlsson.

They were both supposed to be on the same PAN AM flight together following a meeting with DeBeers diamonds in London to attend a UN meeting about Namibia. Carlsson was critical of DeBeers diamond operations in Namibia and S Africa and Mr Botha reportedly suggested the meeting in London - ahead of a UN meeting on Namibia in New York - with DeBeers diamonds and also with Botha

Only Carlsson was killed along Charles McKee, a US Army Special Forces Major, and Matthew Gannon, the CIA’s Beirut deputy station chief and 3 other US agents who reports claim were returning to the USA to expose CIA drug smuggling from Lebanon related to George W Bush

Charles M. McKee, ostensibly a military attache for the DIA in Beirut, Matthew Gannon, CIA Deputy Station Chief in Beirut Lebanon and three others were on board Pan Am Flight 103, which exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland. They were part of a counterterrorist team in Beirut investigating the possible rescue of 9 American hostages in Lebanon. The McKee team uncovered evidence that a rogue CIA unit called COREA, based in Wiesbaden, was doing business with a man called Monzer Al-Kassar, a Syrian arms dealer and drug trafficker. Al-Kassar was part of the covert network run by U.S. Lieut. Colonel Oliver North. Outraged that the COREA unit in Wiesbaden was doing business with a Syrian who had close terrorist connections and might endanger their chances of rescuing the hostages, the McKee team decided to fly back to Virginia unannounced and expose the COREA unit's secret deal with al-Kassar. They never got there. "For three years, I've had a feeling that if Chuck hadn't been on that plane, it wouldn't have been bombed," said Beulah McKee, 75, Charles McKee's mother, to Time Magazine. Four months after her son was killed for his efforts to expose the CIA, Mrs. McKee received a sympathy letter from George H. W. Bush. Mrs. McKee has never been satisfied with the government's version of events.

Also note Carlsson the UN Commissioner and Ex Swedish PM resigned as PM the day after several men were spotted on his roof by a security guard at nearby building not his Swedish Secret Service Guards. The men on the roof were caught and turned out to be policemen who had no right to be there. They said it was a joke and were never charged.

A previous Swedish PM and close friend of Carlsson was assassinated some say because he was trying to broker peace with USA and USSR and at least between Sweden and USSR and was critical of S Africa and against most CIA plans and wishes, and that right wing Swedish police were linked to the assassination. There were neo nazi groups in the Swedish police and the investigation was strangely handled with much covering up of evidence discussed but never dealt with.

Olof Palme was the prime minister of Sweden, assassinated in 1986. Oliver North, the golden boy of the Bush/Reagan machine, had met with Mr. Palme to discuss the possibility of obtaining false end-user certificates for the plethora of weapons that were being purchased, so that they would seem to have come from a country other than the U.S. Mr. Palme refused to participate, after the plan was presented to him. He was dead within weeks.

This Oliver North request was later shown to be almost certainly connected with CIA contra drugs and arms sales to the Contras or Iran.
