These are the times to think way outside the box you've been taught to live in.

There is plenty of land. It doesn't have to be yours. So many people nowadays have no idea what food plants look like. Plant along ditch banks, median strips, the edge of the woods, parks, flower beds at businesses, etc. Then you can just graze around when things are ready for harvest.

You can also forage for wild plants. For example, Queen Anne's lace is related to carrots, and the roots can be eaten the same way. All parts of cattails are edible. Dandelion leaves are good in salads or cooked.

Forget about going in debt for decades just to get a technical job. There are tons of tech jobs and trade careers that you can get educated for at a community college quickly and cheaply. You'll make just about as much money, but with better job satisfaction and less stress.

A couple of my cousins were plumbers and had second homes in Florida. One of them played piano and was offered a big recording contract, but turned it down because of how much he made as a plumber.

If you don't think the trades pay well, hire a plumber, electrician, welder, or car mechanic.
