I think the key here is not the % accounts that are bots, it's the % of interactions performed by bots in political threads that matters. Especially in threads by leftist "thought leaders".
The number of actual, live people whose tweets are seen in this threads is astonishingly low. Dissenting views are shadowbanned and once you get an eye for it, you realize how few of those thousands of leftist lapdogs in the thread are real, live human beings.
I don't know if this has improved with the changes in the past few weeks, but it was bad enough that anyone I knew who was able to spot the bots (they're disturbingly good now) couldn't stand it any longer.
Right, and we've all seen that. But that doesn't concern me as it's easy to see. What concerns me are the extremely lifelike bots that actively post to amplify leftist/authoritarian messages. This is a far more insidious and sadly effective use of bot armies.
The expensive bot armies drown out dissenting voices and legitimize the scum of the earth (Aaron Rupar as an example).
The realistic bot armies that actively engage are a prong in the extremely powerful psychological weapon of making people like you and I feel like we're in the minority, and making communists believe that they're the majority.

Plus, how many create accounts and then are asked for their phone number after a period of time, then never return?
