When my kids were young (3 boys), I would read them bedtime stories. One book I read was about a big family growing up in America in the 30's. There was a part in it where the boys were fighting at school and it explained the school's rules about fighting: it had to be one-on-one, and no picking on smaller grades. My boys woke up, excited and jealous, and wanted to change schools. Today's schools are completely wussified.
When I was that young, boys called each other girls all the time to start a fight.
When I was that young, I was called a tomboy just because I was athletic! The good 'ol days :)
