Maybe ask them what could have been done differently to avoid the baby formula shortage? (Do they even know about it - about how desperate parents are and that some babies have actually had to be hospitalized for lack of their specific formula?) That topic is serious, but at the same time can be viewed as 'non-political.' If they say they don't know, point out how many manufacturers are making it. Why so few? And if the FDA has to close one down, what would be the remedy for the obvious, resultant shortage? Just get them to start picking things apart and actually THINKING. That's all you can do. Plant the seeds and let them germinate in their minds. Good luck and good for you for trying to open eyes. Please don't get discouraged. You really never know who will be affected by your comments. And btw, if that can happen with baby formula, what else can it happen with?
