Tonight's Simpsons was a lecture on America's post-war economy, with more liberal talking points than usual, and the guest was Robert Reich, commie "economist" i the Clinton administration.
The Simpsons has not just "jumped the shark" ...they mutilated the shark and made sausage from it. Just stunning stupidity.
Funny, I never really ever got into South Park. I recall The Simpsons before they were animated on Fox. We use to read the City Pages in San Diego that posted The Simpson cartoon strips. It was during the time 'Far Side' was very popular. When The Simpson's became a Fox TV series, it was just an extension of the folly's portrayed in the City Page comic strips. The TV version added to it. and it was really pretty damn good. As The Simpson's established themselves on TV, I remember other 'adult' cartoons were introduced. South Park was one of them. I started to see a pattern being spun from the successes of The Simpson's that became somewhat insulting to me. The idea of creating adult cartoon's so rudimentary in design, bothered me. South Park seemed to epitomized this. They didn't even pretend to hide it.
Over the years I've repeatedly heard about South Park as being pretty damn good. It's really something I missed the boat on.
