Many of the stories are told symbolically and with metaphor. God would not instruct the writers to create the stories in such literal and thus easy to convolute and distort over time. In my view the only way to ensure the crux of these stories stood the test of time was to ensure the stories were written in metaphor and symbolism.
Sounds like you may have read Frank Peretti's books. I have often thought that and wondered what if Revelation was in regards to the end of one's life. It seems to me that every generation as they age starts to say the same things. ie - credit cards were the mark of the beast to my grandparents' generation, phones and tvs were the mark of the beast to my parents' generation and for my generation it appears to be the covid jab. It definitely gets one thinking.
