My favorite teacher was my teacher in college for English 201 because instead of teaching us English, he just ran critical thinking exercises and laid logical traps with the reading assignments. For example, he would make us read about how you shouldn't trust things just because they are in books, then make us read something clearly sexist but from a female perspective. He would then ask the class what they thought and they would all agree with the female author about all these contrived notions, and he would ask me specifically what I thought since he knew I was not a sheep. And I would go on to explain how she was being sexist and why I didn't enjoy reading it, he would then berate the class for not learning from the previous reading about thinking books are true and how everyone should critically think.
