I’ve run the Detroit half marathon before and keep up with the runners’ group, hoping to run a third and final one sometime…in the many MANY years since I ran the first one, there have never been more than a couple of people per year out of 40,000-some runners who had issues, let alone died. 2009 was an odd year out, there were 2-3 deaths. But that’s about it. This has to be vax related. Detroit attracts a lot of the top runners on the circuit because it’s a Boston qualifier and a great course, so we’d hear about big issues, wonder what this October’s race will bring.
