Vax it says is not required for leaving us. But it says people entering us is required to have it. Its not clear if us citizens can come back without it. Is this a trap?

They definitely don't check at the land border. I don't believe the U.S. requires its citizens to be vaxxed to get in. But beware: many other countries require it; many airlines require it. If you touch either of those points, your travel could be held up. That means your airline could refuse travel back to the U.S. even if the U.S. doesn't care.

Hmm. I was referring to US citizens returning, and only know about the Southern border. I know some people (US citizens) who cross regularly, and they've never been asked.
