Made an appointment last week for this Monday for allergies and sinus gunk but mainly to see if I could get a better allergy med prescription because the pollens have really been causing me grief and I have a history with allergies and asthma. I recently switched to Mercy clinics from Ozark Healthcare because I found them worthless and my husband has been happy with Mercy doctor. Since I just recently switched I had to see the PA on short notice as they currently have only one MD. I had stated that I was having allergy congestion issues and asthma flair up from the pollens I’ve had my whole life when I scheduled. I showed up Monday with most symptoms gone and when I went to check in they asked if I minded seeing a different PA. I stated that I had an appointment and the receptionist got snippy with me and said that she wasn’t seeing any sick patients. I said “who said I was sick? I have allergies and asthma that I fought with my whole life.” She then shoved a mask at me (mask mandates have been dropped a while back around here). I said “I can’t breathe through them, I have asthma”. She said “Let me go talk to her.” She went and spoke to the PA and came back and said “she isn’t seeing anyone right now.”
Funny, why was she there working if she’s not seeing patients and isn’t the purpose of going to the doctor because you have a medical issue?

OMG.....dude, I'd sure call the Medical board & file a complaint....you can do this and perhaps this gal (and front desk gal) WILL RE-THINK THINGS....sheesh!!!
Yes! And file a complaint on them w your insurance company. If they are in your network & have a contract w your insurance, they can also file a grievance for u on them. Medical board as was stated would be even better as well. Fuck these assholes. I work for aetna & def file grievances on providers for members regularly.
This guy has it right. If you file a complaint through your insurance lots can happen. They could freeze payments to the doc until investigated; they can drop that doc as one of their providers; they can refer all to state medical board. You will get a swift response.
I try not to see the PAs. They have more of the God-complex than the docs do. Either they dont check with the doc on questions or they call the doc in who says 'yes' or 'no' in 3 seconds and charges you for full doc visit.
If you were really sick, would you go back to this office? Better try someone else just in case.

Id have been nervous to do so bc anxiety sucks balls but this would have been an occasion to go the fuck off on the sheer incompetence and violation of everything they claim to stand for. Fucking bastards!

Why do people even become doctors if they don't want to see sick people? I know someone who went to a doctor regarding a bad back. They said a sore back is a sign of COVID and sent him home.
