How could anyone do that and let kids die? As a firefighter I risked my life for structure protection, let alone getting to an injured victim, or persons trapped.

I agree - how could someone who is sworn to protect and serve allow this type of thing to happen? Or maybe there will be a bunch of 'suicides' in the coming months for members of this police force too ☹️

I've worked with police quite often and none of the cops I know would have stood by..or firefighters for that matter.
