I'm all for people working if possible, but children, seniors, and some disabled need fed. I'm disabled, but never received disability, I found work I could do.
I agree there are children, elderly and disabled that could use this support. God says for us to take care of the widow and the fatherless children. But there are households with fathers and mothers who somehow are down on their luck who at times need help too.
Yes, and the Churches and other concerns need to be put back in charge. They did a better job of it. Give food not free money. Only healthy food not chips, soda, candy, cookies.
I suspect one of the reasons the Philippines was released from government control is that they are quite content to rely on someone else.
Typical Filipina working abroad is expected to send cash home, send boxes home (They have a special duty-free privilege), bring gifts home during vacations, and wine and dine everyone.

The bible says, you don’t work, you don’t eat. Meaning, if your capable then you must work. Charity is for those who can’t, widows and orphans.
