New Mexico (NM) solar observatory
Official reason: A janitor at the New Mexico solar observatory that was mysteriously shuttered earlier this month had allegedly been downloading and distributing child pornography

Next -- this Daily Grail article has all the keywords for a cover up and debunking; the headline is a question, "a persistent rumour", "downright conspirational"

Quora - "Why did 100s of space observatories suddenly shut down recently?" this gave the conspiracy hoaxers a perfect opportunity to spread their vile & debilitating tripe to the gullible HURR DURR!!

My memory is vague, but I know that several observatories were being closed at that time. Not just one!

Did any one of you know more about what might have happened in 2018?

I remember this. I definitely think it's important and NOT the reason they gave. We really need to dig into this. I'm glad you brought it back up.
