Let's drop the Q shit and do real talk for a few minutes.
The democrats have the house by a handful of seats. The last time a gun bill got passed (September 1994) it passed without a single republican vote in the house or senate. Democrats promptly lost both the house and senate in landslides. Since then the republican brand has been tied to supporting gun rights and standing against gun control.
Republicans know gun rights are a core part of their brand. Support for gun rights is present on both sides of the aisle. Gun control is a losing issue.
Democrats always use shootings as an excuse for gun control. They always try and they often cannot even pass bills out of the house when they have a majority. Republicans always stand against them on this issue in both the house and senate.
Republicans also always propose real measures (mental health system improvements, hardening schools, etc.) that address these shootings in real ways without infringing on our rights. Democrats always reject these measures because they would actually work and remove gun control as a wedge issue.
We're seeing this same pageant play out again but with more hyperbole from the left.
The only chance democrats have is to get one republican senator on their side and end the filibuster. Manchin and Synema have already publicly stated they will not end the filibuster. Democrats then need three republican senators to side with them and against a core brand of their party.
The bills the dems are pushing are too extreme even for Crenshaw or Romney.
I'll be stunned if anything at all happens other than Joe playing dictator with his pen and Executive Order stationary.
