Daily Mail was even worse:
"It was initially thought that this match would be played behind closed doors as part of a three-game punishment handed to Hungary for the racist behaviour of some of their supporters during Euro 2020 last summer but it had become apparent in the build-up to the match that Hungary would take advantage of a Uefa rule that allowed children under the age of 14 to attend the match..... To underline the element of farce, the kids who were allowed in sat in respectful silence during God Save the Queen and then booed lustily when the England players took a knee before kick-off, in the continuing protest against racism. ‘Inherited thinking,’ England manager Gareth Southgate called it afterwards. The idea of allowing children to watch this match had backfired spectacularly before it even started."
And the Express:
"Hungary’s blackshirt racists were banned from the Puskas Arena so instead, it was the schoolchildren invited along in their place who let themselves down against England. The high-pitched booing which greeted the England players taking the knee before kick-off in Budapest on Sunday represented the dispiriting sound of innocence lost."
Since when is booing forbidden - in football of all places?
“Even the knight is 'threatened' with beheading as the sword is 'tapped' on his shoulder while he is in a kneeling subservient position.”
Like in John Boorman’s Excalibur when Arthur’s one-time rival, Sir Uryens, points out that young King Arthur has never even been knighted. Arthur says he’s right and asks Uryens himself to knight him. Uryens, impressed with Arthur’s courage in making himself vulnerable to a rival, is won over, knights Arthur, and swears allegiance to him.
Awesome scene. My two favorite scenes in the movie are the knightings. Arthur’s and then Perceval’s later on.
