Chickens are easy keepers but, keep in mind you will need to feed them so prep for food specially in winter. Some chickens are laying hens (they will lay non fertilized eggs all year round without a rooster around) for short term thats fine for most.
Idealpoultry.com is a big one near me - Cameron, TX I believe.
Best thing you can do is just order the damn chickens! Now you’re on the clock. You need only a cattle trough or stock tank with a heat lamp, food/water dispensers by the time the chicks arrive. Then you have 4-5 weeks until fully feathered to get you coop/enclosure built and ready!
So where can I buy chickens?
