I had read this article back when it was still on Medium before it got marked as hate speech. Author did a deep dive into the money aspect and basically how the grassroots campaigns got hijacked by our favorite Big X players. Long, but worth a read - given it was written four years ago, it provides interesting insight into what is playing out right now.
