Us mods hate banning people. We can take criticism. But with vitriol, we draw the line. Not to protect our precious widdle egos, but to protect YOU.
We're not worth it. But neither is anyone else. NOTHING is worth your mental health.
We can't ban/discipline for less than a day. How do we emphasize that users should focus on POSTS? We will not tolerate friendly fire, or extreme griefing of our overworked mods. If a user can't take a tweak, or take a break, if all we get is just "lashing out" bullshit, then it's best for all involved to hit sidelines for a bit.
We work for our contributors, AFAIC. But we can't perform miracles with bullshit. And we frankly DGAF about trying to please low-effort, low-info tards with anemic or otherwise shit post histories (I'm literally stickied over at PW right now—seriously, let's GEAUX).
If you were "touched" by the mod team today, hey. Take the break. We need you guys strong, healthy, and SANE. Nothing is worth sacrificing even one user over someone else's bullshit. Come back when you're ready. To do that? Hit up modmail, describe your readiness to contribute, and come back. Simple as that. It's not about us (and Lord knows y'all know I only care about one thing, POSTS). We just want some of you to go outside sometimes. It's not healthy for you, or this board, to have the bad interactions with the mods or meltdowns with other users that we're seeing.
It's absolutely nothing personal. Sidebar is life. Same rules for everyone.
Hell, I think last year I actually banned myself. True story. I checked the logs. I banned some really asshole comment not knowing it was mine... so I took the 'L' and went outside. KEK, ahaha, I'm literally retarded. 🤣
