He finally hit the right point here...
His country used to be great because of the actions of his ancestors and country men.
But missed the related point, their country is terrible because of the actions of THEIR ancestors and countrymen.
The case point is Australia. Its a mostly desert or "green desert" jungle hellhole filled with highly venomous flora and fauna, an extreme climate, and at best some marginal land. And yet its a nice place to live. And its because of the people, its because the Average Aussie, like the average person of past Europe, past America, stood up and did what they could to make their community and nation better.
Meanwhile I hear over and over from people who fled the 3rd world, that the overwhelming attitude the reigns there is that problems are somebody else's problem, that somebody else should fix things, that they should never get involved. And sure you yourself shouldn't go confronting gangsters, but you SHOULD go confront your government if the local services are not working right, or better yet run for government to get things fixed.
Criminality, corruption, and incompetence reign in lands where people say "its somebody else's problem" and make no effort to fix the problem.
Thatβs a good point.
