Yes, back when Disney movies had actual thought and talent put into them. 2D animation is going extinct, and as an animation fan and animator myself it makes me incredibly sad.
Not as much as you might think. There are elements that are similar, but really a story like that has been told in all kinds of ways for a long time. And really I'm talking about the talent put in with the animation. Hand drawn 2D animation is incredibly time consuming and pain staking. You need a team of at least 200-300 animators to make an animated film in less than 4 years. It takes that long. Beauty and the Beast 1991 was unique because it was created in about 2.5 years, they really pushed themselves on that one.
