The vet usually prescribes Heartguard which is ivermectin but they charge a fortune. Can I dose my own dog with my ivermectin? Wondering if any of you pedes can help

Been doing it for years with my bird dogs. It is .1cc for every ten pounds of body weight. A fifty pound dog gets a half cc. I use the cattle injectable, and just put it on some canned dog food. Drip it around a meal sized feeding so they don't get a concentrated taste.
Don't give them the Ivomec pour on for sheep. I've used that in water for my other animals, but I have never seen reliable information on a dosage for dogs, and the pour on also has something that allows it to penetrate the skin which might not be good for a dog.
