My old branch. Combat Support, not Combat Arms. Nothing special, probably spent his time in a Decon/Smoke company but dreamed of being a shooter. Got his chance and got captured. On active duty they get secondary mission of scout/recon.
That is english. Combat Arms is Infantry, Artillery, Armor, Cavalry. Their job is to kill people. Combat Support, not so much. Decontamination = Run a car wash. Smoke = Generate smokescreens to mask movement or obscure terrain. TL-DR: He Ain't no hard-dick soldier.
PS: Drueke fully deserves what he got and would get
even if he was not involved in biolabs he supported corrupted Jewlensky and Joe Bidet, joined not his war ,obeyed wrong orders of scums who not cared about his life even a bit - and will face the consequences of his poor decisions. He had the choice,he had chosen badly. If he would have second chance somehow he should praise God and learn something. But life rarely gives second chance...
Trust me, it's what these fuckers do. Especially at that level, E-6, Staff Seargent. No real special technical abilities oustside of running a few monitoring instruments and maybe sample collection. Biolab types would be found at Ft. Detrick and would almost be exclusively commissioned officers or civilian (DOD) employees with advanced degrees. This cock-jockey is a glorified supply seargent. Combat commanders like to fuck with the chemical corps guys, probably put him in charge of one of their toxic burn pits where they burned everything from shit to chlorinated plastics and paint.
Will the Russkies believe that or not, or just blow it up and make an example of this guy? Pretty sure we would.
Can confirm all ... AND ... at the risk of getting a slurry of downvotes to the face he is not wearing any badges. 'Badges are worn on the breast pockets. This did has no badges. He does have a regimental crest above his right breast pocket. That just means he was 'affiliated' with that 'regiment'. It's like being in the FOP if your a LEO. Its just a 'club' for other smokies (chemical fags). ALSO ... this DA Photo (Department of the Army) is old as fuck. We quit taking DA photos with the old Army Greens in like 2010.

I always thought it was ridiculous the military had cbrn guys wearing paper masks to stop a virus, as though nobody knew better

Yup. Low density branches like chem affiliated all the 74s (Chem Corps) guys in their own regiment if that was their primary.
