Easton police have launched an investigation after a car with an anti-Trump bumper sticker crashed into a Donald Trump-themed gift and merchandise shop on Thursday.
At 5:10 p.m., authorities said they responded to a report of a collision at 620 Washington St. in Easton. Once police arrived on the scene they discovered a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta had crashed into the front windows of the New England for Trump store located at the west end of the building.
A video of the incident recorded on one of the store’s cameras shows the Volkswagen Jetta suddenly breaking the shop’s front windows and ramming through Donald Trump t-shirts and other gift shop merchandise.Photographer for The Enterprise, Marc Vasconcellos, captured an anti-Trump sticker attached to the back of the Volkswagen.
The sticker featured a well-known quote from French writer, François-Marie Arouet, over Trump’s face.
“Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities,” the bumper sticker read.
Police said the vehicle was operated by a 46-year-old male from Raynham. He was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. One employee was the only person present at the store during the time of the crash, he was not injured.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
