Depends if your freelancer or part of a PMC. A PMC contractor depending on the company and potential hazards can pull in a 6 figure salary quite easily. I’ve heard of real high end veteran ex-spec ops PMC guys being able to pull 7 figures off of some contracts.
Freelancer is more variable and in the modern day often leans more towards glorified security/bodyguard.

I was offered $500 per day back in 2016. I never did take that offer and ended up in the oil field instead.
