LC is good, but there are better commercial alternatives. The mass produced cases do have some failures and the quality control is pretty good, however there are a number of premium brands that have tighter specs and more detailed QC. I think the best I have ever come across is probably Norma or possibly Lapua. The durability is fantastic. I have several batches that are on their 7th reload without case neck cracking and no signs of base stretching. I do load moderate pressure and don't push close to SAAMI max spec. Federal brass is always great and Hornady is one of my favorites for match loads along with their 168gr Amax bullets for 308.
Totally agree on NORMA...thing is: I started researching months ago and they can't keep the stuff in stock...I bought Lapua for the 338 but use LC for the AR-308...works fine and the I do reload. I fire first and then check the specs, split cases, primer pocket expansion...etc...
Yes, both Norma and Lapua are tougher to get and more expensive. I don't typically need anything better than match grade for competition. I don't do bench rest. National match and silhouette service rifle is what I enjoy. Silhouette can just use any ammo, doesn't need match grade.
