Would it be stupid for the troops that followed Washington, losing battle after battle, to continue to believing in him even though victory is no where in sight? Is it stupidity or loyalty? I guess it depends on the final outcome. The war is not over yet my friend. Keep fighting.
I believe Washington would have spoken directly with the troops with reason, logic, openness to imput, humility, and absolute truth, and all I am asking for is the same from anyone who wishes to call themselves a leader of anything.
A Jefferson quote comes to mind. Something about questioning the very existence of God for God would prefer honest questioning to blind faith.

Yes I also agree that God would prefer us to question bc the truth will be able to withstand questioning.
