I’m a 29f and I’ve been in and out of urgent care, the ER, seen specialists over the course of 10+ years and nobody has been able to tell me anything outside of IBS. I assumed I had parasites, even thought I saw them sometimes, but every test I took came out negative, every treatment was ineffective.
Finally, last week, my results came back. I tested positive for C-diff and chronic Epstein-Barr Virus. These are both pretty serious conditions and I’ve had them for over a decade now but the doctor who found the issues is confident he’ll be able to resolve them without drugs.
Please send healing vibes, prayer, and any tips on overcoming these diagnoses. Also, if you’re going to trust a doctor to help you, make sure they trust YOU enough to listen to your experiences and take the extra steps necessary to get to the root of the problem! It took me ten years to find the right one and get answers. Knowing what the problem is is half the battle.
The best available treatment for cdiff is fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) from an adequate donor. There are many studies and reviews on this by now, e.g., https://gastro.org/press-releases/aga-releases-largest-real-world-report-on-safety-and-effectiveness-of-fecal-microbiota-transplantation-fmt-2/, https://www.gastrojournal.org/article/S0016-5085(20)35221-5/fulltext .
If it saves one life
Hard to believe medical studies these days tbh. OP is better off with ivermectin/homeopathic treatment.
I can’t help but wonder how many years will pass before “fecal transplant” is revealed to be a faddish prank to see how many people will eat shit.
It just sounds ridiculous.
A controlled fecal transplant is important. If you don't have healthy gut flora, you're going to be fucked up in a lot of ways.
It's disgusting, it's absolutely revolting to consider, but it is not a fad. Bad or no gut flora -- which can happen from a heavy antibiotic regimen for unrelated conditions too -- is absolutely terrible for you, and just one problem that can be caused is having new allergies that you didn't have before, and that is very serious because you can go into anaphylactic shock without knowing or having what you need because it wasn't something you were allergic to before.
You NEED healthy gut flora. It is imperative to your health. If you have bad gut flora, it needs to be removed and replaced. If you have none, it needs to be replaced.
It is not a fad. It is very serious. Just because a treatment is used by hospitals doesn't mean it's bad, and these are the stupid problems that hospitals falling in lockstep with the bullshit are causing.
I have read about this absolutely revitalizing people’s lives. But yes, revolting! Imagine being the donor!
Leaching used to not be a fad. It was the best medicine known to man at the time. You would have been a fool to turn it down if the doctor recommended it.
But it was a fad all along.
I suspect fecal transplants will disappear entirely as a stupid fad when we learn what kind of diet screws up gut flora and what sort of diet restores it quickly.
It is supposed to give you a jump to have the correct bacteria in your gut. You can make your own, but it takes time and effort.
"supposed to"
You don’t eat the shit. It’s more of a douche for your ass.
Sounds like a weird sex fetish.
