You forgot to tell him to get a current inverter, transformers can't step up or step down DC current, the physics of Transformers requires an alternating magnetic field from the primary coils in other to induce current flow in the secondary coils

I believe the 2000 watt dc to ac converter is what you're referring to as an inverter.

Inverter is the more common name.
