You know, I have often thought about a lot of wealth, but never, ever envied anyone who is wealthy. The pinnacle of my wishes involved a nice (not large) home and happy children.
I have known or been acquainted with very, very wealthy folks, prime ministers, cabinet members, Congressmen and senators, even movie stars. I remember thinking very early on that I wouldn't trade places with these folks for all the rice in China. Haven't changed my mind. Wealth and fame are traps. Very few have the moral aptitude to get around those traps with their soul in tact. I knew this as a very young woman and in my waning days, very thankful that some ethereal wisdom clued me in.
I just want enough of what I've earned and saved to prevent me from being a burden on anyone, including the taxpayer (pride--perhaps. God forgive, please.)
