Both mine are intact but I am not. Kinda wish I was just because. But then I've said "no mas" to a lot of things my parents accepted from medical community.
Had to fight with the doctor who still billed me for a circumcision for my one son lol.
I'm curious how much that bill was?
Here in Korea having a baby was cheap, the whole process with a 3 day stay in the hospital was like $300 bucks :P
So a couple months after the birth I got a bill from the ob/gyn. With insurance it was a $10 copay but when I read the description of services, it was for infant circumcision. The billed amount to insurance was like $500.
I called the ob/gyn and they first argue with me trying to say the dr did the procedure, then tell me they bill for it regardless if it gets done or some bullshit. I say "do you need me to bring my kid in and show you he still has a foreskin?" Soon I am on a three way call with Dr and insurance company and the story is changed to "oh we must have done that BY ACCIDENT" bc it's so common they aren't used to people NOT getting it done. With the insurance people on the line the issue got corrected and the bill went away.
I'll be damned if I'm gonna make the Dr's Mercedes payment fraudulently and THEN pay $10 out of pocket on top of that.
The total bill for the birth AFTER insurance was something like $2400 but before insurance was something crazy in the 10s of thousands. Billing my us $20 each for the 800mg ibuprofen they gave her for pain, etc. Lol I can buy a whole BOTTLE of ibuprofen for $6.
Yeah that is bonkers.... I had no idea how messed up our medical system was until I came to Korea, I saved up like 5 grand when my son was born because I thought it would cost a lot, but my wife was in the hospital for 3 weeks before the birth that only cost $200 bucks, then the birth was like $300ish and that included a c-section.
I can say though the treatment is better in the states, there were parts of her 3 week stay where it seemed like it was shitty. But it does show really if you don't have the 3rd world migrating to your country and a population that is willing to work hard, it is possible to run healthcare and keep the costs low for people.
That is good you got it sorted out though, I mean $500 bucks is a good amount specially for something that wasn't done.
