Jesus died to show us what is needed to be absolved from sin. Almost all sins, except for crimes against the holy spirit, can be forgiven. Since all of us (almost all) have committed such deeds in this or a previous life, we have to suffer enormous emotional and physical pain and a painful death as punishment - that is, if we want to follow Jesus' path and move on to the heavenly realms in the afterlife. That's not the only path, of course, you can take the long and winding road too... (Suffering a little bit over many lifetimes but you rob God of their rightful justice). Unfortunately, only believing in Christ isn't enough to be absolved and I'm saying this because we need to know that if we don't seriously work on ourselves and start truly following God's path, we are either going straight to hell or will get reborn in shittier conditions than we are in now. May God bless you all and may you find the true path.
Hebrews 9:27. 'It is appointed for men to die once, then comes judgement.' Reincarnation is not biblical.
Also, Jesus did not die to show us what is needed. Jesus died to give the grace gift of salvation to the world. All are welcome, but not all will believe.
The Jewish 'law' showed people what was needed -- a savior, an intercessor - hence, the introduction of the blood sacrifice. The Jewish law was necessary to show the people that they can't keep it, they can't be perfect. They needed a messiah.
Jesus was and is the final and only necessary blood sacrifice. Believe in Him and be saved.
