We are made in God's image. Why then should our nature be abandoned? We are to love each other, again as Christ says "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." Matthew 7:12.
See to your own sins, give generously in material and spirit to those around you, even those you consider on the widest of paths.

All through acts, it talks about his trials, including lashings and beatings and how he suffered. He extolled those sufferings himself, like when the Corinthians complained that he didnt visit with them as he promised.
2 Cor 1:6 "When we suffer for Jesus, it works out for your healing and salvation."
Suffering is good.
2 Cor 1:12 "Now that the worst is over, we’re pleased we can report that we’ve come out of this with conscience and faith intact, and can face the world—and even more importantly, face you with our heads held high. "
We can be prideful that we've suffered. For God.
2 Cor 1:23 "Now, are you ready for the real reason I didn’t visit you in Corinth? As God is my witness, the only reason I didn’t come was to spare you pain."
I suffered. For yoooooouuuuu.
He is overly concerned about himself when spreading the Lords message, and was the main message for future Christians - to truly believe, you must suffer. That has led many Christians astray - especially the infirm and those who feel alone because they lack the tales about their belief.
A simple life is all you need, bring love to those around you, help them when they need it, believe because you have found a piece of thr Kingdom.
