My points are that those are Jesus' words and Paul introduces the concept of suffering as a proof of faith. And also that we have probably not seen the entirety of the bible.
I did not say there wasn't suffering. I said Paul made it into a virtue-signaling sport and excuse for all manner of things.
When we are supposed to love one another, dragging self righteousness, jealousy and shame screaming into the house is a poor idea. But it's what Christianity was built on - mainly because of that guy right there.
The term virtue signal is relatively new, yes, but to pretend that people didn't peacock to others for their own benefit in every way just because it was 2,000 years ago and 'that's just how people talked' is a ridiculous take.
People talk like that today. Remember AOC telling us about her harrowing ordeal on Jan 6th, only to actually be a mile away in her office? Either she's 2,000 years old or some things aren't as different about the past as the powers that be pretend.
