Unfortunately, our yard has no suitable garden area. I'm trying to grow a few tomato plants in huge pots in one of the few spots that gets enough sun. I spent about $50 just on some heavy-gage screen to keep the squirrels out, with bird netting on top (and a squirrel already found a way in! at least birds appear not to care about trying to get in :) ). Squirrels are the most relentless creatures I have ever seen! We have some bird feeders and if they have a 1/1000 chance of getting to one, they WILL keep trying until they succeed!

Eat the squirrels.
I calculate that each cherry tomato that I might get will equate to about $5 :)
