The day my FIL passed, my MIL called us to say he was going. Got down to the house and he was alert and getting ready to eat breakfast. Went to the store to buy some Ensure per the nurse's request who was helping my MIL. 20 minutes later, I came back and he passed as I walked into the bedroom.
(First time I ever witnessed a death; you really do see the soul leave the eyes. I was awake at night reading a lot about this sort of thing for a couple of weeks after that. Not out of fear, but it does change you.)
